This process is designed to be straightforward, collaborative, and thorough. Here is what to expect.

1. Schedule Your Visit

Choose “Schedule Visit” and select a time that works for you through the online calendar.

If you have questions before scheduling or need an appointment time outside the listed availability, you are welcome to reach out by email.

2. Complete Your Intake Forms

You will receive access to a secure medical portal where you will complete intake paperwork before your visit. The more detail, the better. It all helps me understand the bigger picture before we meet.

3. Payment Before Your Visit

Visits are paid securely online when your appointment is scheduled. This allows me to reserve dedicated time for your care and thoughtfully prepare before we meet.

4. Secure Telehealth Visit

Your video visit will take place through the secure patient portal. During the visit, we will discuss your symptoms, concerns, goals, medical history, and possible approaches in depth.

5. Personalized Plan and Ongoing Adjustment

After your visit, you will receive a written assessment and treatment plan. Care may include laboratory evaluation, prescriptions, lifestyle changes, supplements, or further discussion depending on your needs.

6. Follow-Up and Continued Communication

One follow-up visit is included because treatment often requires a little time, adjustment, and discussion to get things feeling right. Many hormonal treatments take 4–12 weeks to stabilize and respond fully.

In the meantime, secure portal messaging is available for questions and medication adjustments as needed.

Commonly Asked Questions

General Practice Information

Where are you licensed to practice?
arrow

I am licensed to practice medicine in Indiana and South Dakota. Telehealth visits are available to patients who are physically located in Indiana or South Dakota at the time of their appointment.

Are you replacing my normal doctor?
arrow

No. This practice focuses specifically on perimenopause, menopause, hormone therapy, and related midlife concerns.

Many patients continue their routine care with their primary care physician while working with me for more specialized midlife evaluation and treatment.

You should continue seeing your primary care physician for general medical care, preventive screenings, urgent concerns, and conditions requiring in-person evaluation.

How do I know if this practice is a good fit for me?
arrow

This practice is often a good fit for women seeking more time, education, and individualized discussion around perimenopause, menopause, hormone therapy, and midlife symptoms.

Many patients arrive feeling overwhelmed, dismissed, uncertain, or simply unsure what is actually related to hormones and midlife change.

You do not need to have everything figured out before scheduling. Conversely, some patients come in having already done extensive reading or with specific treatment ideas they would like to discuss. Those conversations are welcome too.

What if I need an exam, imaging, or in-person testing?
arrow

Some concerns may require an in-person examination, imaging, laboratory testing, or evaluation by a local physician or specialist. If that happens, I will discuss it with you directly and help guide you toward the appropriate next step.

Many women continue working with their local primary care physician or gynecologist for pelvic exams, breast exams, imaging, urgent concerns, and other aspects of in-person care while continuing menopause and midlife treatment here through telehealth.

Do I need labs before my first visit?
arrow

No. Existing labs can be reviewed if available, and additional laboratory testing may be ordered when appropriate based on your symptoms, history, and goals.

Labs are typically billed directly through the laboratory facility and may be submitted to your insurance if desired.

Communication and Follow-Up

How does communication work between visits?
arrow

Secure portal messaging is available for important clinical questions related to your treatment plan, medication clarification, possible side effects, laboratory questions, and brief clinical guidance. Messages are typically answered within 1–2 business days.

Messaging works best for shorter questions and ongoing adjustments between visits. New symptoms, significant treatment changes, more complex concerns, or detailed discussions are usually better addressed through a scheduled appointment so there is adequate time and context to think carefully together.

Why is follow-up important?
arrow

Hormone therapy and other prescription treatments require appropriate follow-up and reassessment over time. This helps ensure treatment remains safe, effective, and aligned with your symptoms and goals. Many hormonal treatments take time to stabilize, and improvement often occurs gradually over 4–12 weeks. Follow-up allows time for thoughtful reassessment, discussion, and adjustment rather than assuming everything should feel perfect immediately

Patients are expected to:

  • Complete recommended follow-up visits
  • Report concerning side effects or significant changes
  • Seek urgent medical care when appropriate
  • Participate in ongoing reassessment before prescription renewal

Prescription refills and treatment adjustments require ongoing follow-up evaluation.

What kinds of concerns can be addressed in follow-up visits?
arrow

The included follow-up visit after your initial assessment is primarily used to review how you are responding to treatment, discuss laboratory results if needed, answer questions, and make thoughtful adjustments over time. Hormones and midlife physiology often take a little time to stabilize, which is why I typically reassess things again after a few months rather than assuming everything should feel perfect immediately.

Additional follow-up visits may then be scheduled whenever new concerns arise or when you would like continued support and reassessment over time.

This may include changes in sleep, mood, cognition, metabolism, sexual health, weight, skin, hair, or other aspects of midlife health. Sometimes we are simply reassessing where things stand and deciding where to go next. Midlife tends to keep things interesting.

Do I have to continue care with you after the initial visit?
arrow

No. One follow-up visit is included with the initial assessment because I generally think it is important to reassess how things are going, answer questions, and make adjustments if needed once treatment is started.

After that, some patients choose to continue ongoing care here for as long as they would like, while others return to their local physician once treatment feels stable.

Insurance and Billing

Do you accept insurance?
arrow

This is a direct-pay practice and does not bill insurance. This structure allows more time for careful evaluation, individualized treatment planning, and ongoing follow-up care over time.

HSA and FSA funds may often be used for visits. Laboratory testing may be recommended as part of your evaluation, but laboratory costs are separate from visit fees.

Payment is made securely online by credit card prior to your visit. Some patients choose to request a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

When are payment and intake forms due?
arrow

Payment and intake forms are completed through the secure patient portal after booking your appointment. Payment is due at the time of scheduling, and intake forms are requested at least 3 business days prior to your visit, preferably sooner.

Because this practice is built around thoughtful preparation and individualized evaluation, I spend time reviewing your intake, medical history, medications, and any records submitted before we meet. Completing forms early helps allow adequate time for careful review and preparation.

The more detail you provide in your intake, the more helpful and productive the visit tends to be. It all matters.

Do you accept Medicaid or Medicare?
arrow

No. This practice does not participate with Medicaid and Medicare plans and is not able to provide direct-pay care for Medicaid and Medicare patients at this time.

Hormone Therapy and Treatment Approaches

Do you prescribe hormone therapy?
arrow

Yes, when appropriate.

Treatment recommendations are individualized and may include estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, non-hormonal medications, lifestyle changes, supplements, or further evaluation depending on your symptoms, medical history, goals, and overall risk profile.

Hormone therapy is never approached as one-size-fits-all, and not every patient needs or wants the same approach.

Do you prescribe testosterone for women?
arrow

Yes, when appropriate.

Testosterone therapy may be considered for carefully selected women, particularly when concerns such as low sexual desire or other symptoms suggest it may be helpful. Risks, benefits, monitoring, and available formulations are discussed carefully before treatment is started.

Is hormone therapy safe?
arrow

Hormone therapy is not one single treatment, and safety depends on the individual person, their medical history, symptoms, age, timing, and treatment goals.

Formal risk assessment is performed when appropriate to help determine whether hormone therapy is a reasonable and safe option for you.

Do you prescribe compounded hormones?
arrow

Treatment recommendations are individualized and may include commercially available and/or compounded hormone therapy when appropriate.

Do you prescribe bioidentical hormones?
arrow

The term “bioidentical hormones” can mean different things depending on the context. Many commercially available FDA-approved hormone therapies are bioidentical, and compounded options may also be discussed when appropriate. Treatment recommendations are individualized based on your symptoms, goals, medical history, and safety profile.

Urgent Care and Safety

What if I have an urgent medical problem?
arrow

This practice does not provide emergency or urgent medical care, and portal messaging should not be used for time-sensitive concerns.

If you experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, severe allergic reaction, heavy or concerning bleeding, or anything that feels urgent or unsafe, please seek immediate medical care or contact your local physician.
